From completion notice to keys
As your project nears completion the developer issues a completion or handover notice, along with the final payment due and any outstanding fees. Once the balance is settled and the property is registered, the title deed is issued in your name and you receive the keys. Read the notice carefully — it sets deadlines you need to meet.
Snagging: inspect before you accept
- Book a snagging inspection — ideally a professional one — before you sign off on the unit.
- Check finishes, doors and windows, plumbing and water pressure, electrics and sockets, AC, and that fittings match the spec.
- Log every defect in a snag list and submit it to the developer to fix before or shortly after handover.
- Only accept the unit once you are satisfied, or accept subject to the logged snags being resolved.
